1. Who We Are

2. Information Collected

This site is static. It does not run a user account system, analytics platform, or advertising network. The following limited data interactions occur:

• Contact form submissions: If you complete the contact form on the homepage, your name, phone number, and email address are transmitted to our contact email address. This data is used only to respond to your inquiry and is not stored in a database on this server.
• Server access logs: Our hosting provider may log your IP address, browser user-agent string, and the URLs you requested. These logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and diagnostic purposes and are not used for advertising or profiling.
• Local storage: A single flag (bj_cookie_consent) is written to your browser's local storage to remember whether you accepted or rejected the cookie notice. This value never leaves your device.

3. Cookies

Brookstone Journal does not set HTTP cookies. The cookie consent preference is stored in browser local storage, not in a cookie. No third-party cookies are introduced by this site. External images are loaded from Wikimedia Commons servers; those servers may set their own cookies subject to the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy.

4. Third-Party Services

This site loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts. When your browser requests this font, Google's servers receive your IP address and browser details subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Images are loaded directly from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licences.

No advertising networks, social media tracking pixels, or third-party analytics tools are used.

5. Your Rights Under PIPEDA

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to request access to personal information held about you, to have it corrected, and to withdraw consent for its use. To exercise these rights, contact contact@brookstonejournal.org. Given the minimal data this site retains, most requests will be fulfilled within five business days.

6. Data Retention

Contact form submissions forwarded to our email are retained for up to 12 months and then deleted. Server access logs are deleted within 30 days. Local storage values remain on your device until cleared by you or by your browser.

7. Children

This site does not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through the contact form, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

If material changes are made to this policy, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the site after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
